What is it?
TED talk by Robert Waldinger – What makes a good life? Lessons from the longest study on happiness
Why should we watch it?
In a survey taken several years ago, millennials were asked what their life goals were. Apparently 80% wanted to become rich and 50% of that 80% wanted to become famous.
Robert Waldinger is the 4th director of the Longer Study on Happiness, that Harvard University started over 75 years ago. They followed 724 men for over 75 years to find out what it is that keeps us healthy and happy. What they learned? That having good relationships keep us happier and healthier. People who have family, friends and a community surrounding them seem to live longer. Not the quantity matters, but the quality of the relationships are what’s best for our health. The more satisfied we are with our relationsships, the healthier we become.
So stop chasing the rich and famous, and start investing in the people around you!
